The war against the zombies isn’t over.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel to World War Z is forthcoming after a better-than-expected opening. The zombie film grossed $66 million domestically and $111.8 million worldwide over the weekend to make it star Brad Pitt’s biggest debut of his career.
After that kind of opening, it was inevitable that a sequel would happen as successful franchises are hard to come by. And World War Z is a very thrilling film with a unique take on the zombie genre – and has an ending that leaves the door wide open for a sequel.
As a fan of the book and the film – which was initially proposed a possible trilogy before it ran into production issues – I’m really excited for this news. I think there are endless possibilities of where to take the story, even if it doesn’t involve Pitt’s character.
