2023 Oscar Nominations Predictions

The 95th Academy Awards will take place in early March, but first we have nomination morning next week (Tuesday, January 24th) where we’ll finally learn who makes the cut and who gets snubbed. The Oscars discourse so far has been, as always, a fascinating rabbit hole with some categories inserting some intriguing drama. For example, in Best Actor there appears to be four locks, but who gets that fifth slot? What’s up with Supporting Actress this year and does Stephanie Hsu pull of the upset and replace Jamie Lee Curtis (the answer is yes)? The Fabelmans were not embraced by the BAFTA’s, but surely that doesn’t mean the same thing for Hollywood right? I mean, it’s Steven Spielberg for crying out loud. And then there’s Best Picture, a category with mysteries of its own. There will be plenty to discuss in the coming weeks, but come Tuesday I just want to see a Paul Mescal nomination. At any rate, here are my final predictions for the 2023 Oscar nominations.
