This week on the InSession Film Podcast, we discuss the latest from Andy Serkis in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and our Top 3 campy superhero scenes in film! Plus, a few brief thoughts on Clint Eastwood’s Cry Macho.

As the fall season begins to descend upon us, it’s always nice to get shows like this that are more dedicated to light-hearted fun. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is wonderfully over-the-top and we had a great time talking about its bromance and campy performances. Which then led to an equally diverting segment talking about other superhero scenes full of entertaining theatrics. There will come a time very soon when we talk about the year’s heaviest contenders, but for this week, kick back, relax and enjoy the ride.

On that note, check out this week’s show and let us know what you think in the comment section. Thanks for listening and for supporting the InSession Film Podcast!

For our break segment this week, JD gives his thoughts on Clint Eastwood’s latest film Cry Macho and how it’s a tale of two halves. Also, please stay tuned for Patreon Bonus Content coming soon where JD and Brendan discuss the films they’ve caught up with over the last several weeks (that we haven’t had time to talk about on the Main Show).

Top 3 Campy Superhero Scenes (1:08:30)
Before the Bryan Singer X-Men films, and especially Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, the superhero genre didn’t have the greatest reputation. Most of the films also had a very different tone and approach than what we see today. It’s in that where Venom: Let There Be Carnage is very refreshing. The self-seriousness that many superhero films carry today is certainly noteworthy and there’s plenty to love, but like many of its predecessors of yesteryear, Venom leaned more into playful camp. And boy oh boy are there some great superhero scenes loaded with cheese. And we had a great time dissecting the one’s that made us squeal with glee. That said, what would be your top 3?
