This week on Episode 710 of the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by the release of Wildwood this weekend, we thought it would be fun to dive into our Top 5 stop-motion animated movies! Stop-motion is some of our very favorite types of film. There’s something about the artistry of it, and the painstaking detail that comes with the form, that pops off the screen. We’ve done this list before, but it was a decade ago and we felt like it was time to give it another go. Especially since Megan wasn’t with us the last time around. There are so many great stop-motion animated movies to talk about, and we had a great time with this one. That said, here are our lists:
(Note: Please keep in mind that we each had different criteria for our selections)
JD
1) The Nightmare Before Christmas
2) Fantastic Mr. Fox
3) Guillermo del Toro’s Pincchio
4) Kubo and the Two Strings
5) Anomalisa
Megan

Hopefully you guys enjoyed our lists. If you agree or disagree with us, let us know in the comment section below. There are obviously more stop-motion that we didn’t have time to mention (or they’re blindspots for us), so if your list looks very different than ours, we totally get it. That being said, what would be your Top 5? Leave a comment in the comment section or email us at [email protected].
