The Marvel Cinematic Universe is back in theaters this weekend with Eternals, from Academy-Award winning director Chloé Zhao, and we are very excited for it. Say what you will about Marvel, but Zhao is one of the more captivating filmmakers in recent years. The Rider and Nomadland are both fantastic in their minimalism and evocative imagery. She may have won an Oscar for Nomadland, but there’s an argument that her direction was equally great, if not better, in The Rider. Either way, it’s jarring to think about those films and the MCU in the same time. Zhao’s style isn’t at all comparable to what we’ve seen so far in the MCU, but that’s what makes Eternals very enticing. However, she may be the right director given the premise of the film around immortality. And that’s our inspiration for the poll this week. There are many great films about immortality and we want to know which film stands out to you as the best.
