This week on the InSession Film Podcast, with it being Brendan’s last show before he goes out on leave to become a new dad, we thought it would be fun to discuss our Top 5 Girl Dad movies (as Brendan and his wife are expecting a baby girl)! We also give our thoughts on this year’s Cannes Film Festival lineup!

We open the show this week with an announcement that we’ve openly teased for some time now. As noted above, Brendan is leaving the show temporarily as his wife will soon give birth to their first child. While he is out, the great Megan Kearns will sit in the co-host chair and we are very excited to have her be a part of the show.
– Cannes Film Festival Lineup (5:45)
The Cannes lineup was revealed last week, and we wanted to give our thoughts on the crop of films playing in and out of competition this year. We are set to see new films from Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Pedro Almodóvar, Ira Sachs, Jukas Dhont, Pawel Pawilkowski, Christian Mungiu, Na Hong-Jim, Andrey Zvyagintsev, Asghar Farhadi, Jane Schoenbrun, Nicolas Winding Refn and so many more! Several of these notable names haven’t made films in nearly a decade, and we are beyond thrilled to finally get new films from them this year.
– Top 5 Girl Dad Movies (34:09)
With Brendan set to become a girl dad soon, we thought it would be appropriate to talk about our favorite girl dad movies. There are so many great ones to choose from, but it’s quite remarkable how many great girl dad movies we’ve see in just he past 5-10 years. In fact, you could argue that a few decades from now we’ll be talking about the 2020’s as the best decade for girl dad movies. Either way, this was a really fun topic and we had a great time with this list. That said, what did you think of our lists for Top 5 Girl Dad Movies?
