Who needs extensive casts anyway? A good ensemble piece is always exciting, but sometimes it’s more difficult to carry a film when your cast is limited to no more than two characters. These movies don’t always happen (with literally one or two characters at a maximum), but there have been quite a few great ones with predominantly only two characters to latch on to. From romance films, to simple conversational pieces, to even epic space adventures, it goes to show how far a limited cast can actually get you. And with the release of Sam Levinson’s Malcom & Marie (starring ONLY John David Washington and Zendaya), we decided to focus on the best of the small.
