From wuxia, to kung fu, to karate, to even action-comedies and samurai films, the martial arts have given us some of the best action movies ever made, and they’ve been kicking butt for decades. This weekend sees the release of yet another video game adaptation, and while it’s safe to assume that Mortal Kombat won’t quite join the ranks among the best martial arts films, it did prompt us to look at the best the genre has to offer. At the very least, perhaps Sub-Zero could hold his own against Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
With that said, what is the best martial arts film? We realize this may be a bit of a loose term, hence why these options cover its respective sub-genres as well.
