After starting the year with Steven Soderbergh, Ryan and Jay take a look back in time at a classic Hollywood director that is as versatile as they come with Howard Hawks. In a career spanning close to fifty years, the man made some of the most successful, significant movies of his era, in various genres like comedy, crime thrillers, dramas, musicals, and westerns. As the series went on, the Extra Film boys grew to understand how Hawks might be one of the most underrated directors of his time and how the man was a pioneer in pushing forward provocative ideas in a time where directors were limited by the studios and the government to do so.
