We begin the show this week with JD telling a funny story about taking his kids on a Disney cruise over the weekend. They tried to surprise their oldest (Sam) as an early birthday, and let’s just say it didn’t go as expected. Kids are fun.

We next shift to this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and the winners announced over the weekend. To no one’s surprise, La Bola Negra won the People’s Choice Award and will likely be a major Oscar contender. The documentary award was a bit of a surprise, but generally there was some compelling winners this year.
– Movies About Television (29:07)
Not sure what it is about exploring the world of television, but the films considered here are pretty extraordinary. This was a challenging list to narrow down given how rich the topic is overall. Even if a few seem pretty obvious as the best, there are some equally riveting underrated gems. Which is to say, we had a blast talking about these movies and why they resonate so viscerally.
