This week on the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by the release of Tony this weekend, we discuss our Top 5 food movies! Plus, we dive into the announcements from D23 over the weekend and the upcoming projects we’re most excited about.
– D23: Star Wars (5:27)
We begin the show this week by diving into the latest news to come out of D23 over the weekend. First up, we talk about Star Wars. The reports comparing Starfighter to Ryan Gosling’s 2011 film Drive was especially alluring. Gosling even came on stage in a jacket to give credence to those comparisons. If Shawn Levy can deliver, it might be one of the bigger surprises of next year. We also got to see the new trailer for Season 2 of Ahsoka, which looks 10x better than Season 1 (which we did kind of appreciate).
– D23: X-Men & Marvel / Animation (21:10)
Next, we get into the big X-Men reveal and the announcement of the new cast. We figured this was happening given that Marvel avoided anything X-Men at Comic-con just a month ago. The cast is coming together nicely, culminating in Keven Feige finally getting Adam Driver to join the MCU after many attempts and failing in the past. After talking some Marvel, we end our D23 discussion by talking about Frozen 3, Incredibles 3 and Coco 2.
– Top 5 Food Movies (1:12:21)
Inspired by the release of Tony this weekend and the late-great Anthony Bourdain, we thought it would be fun to dive into our Top 5 food movies! There’s perhaps a fine line between movies where food is a vital throughline and those with just a few delicious scenes that stand out. But regardless of your criteria, there are so many great food movies to consider and we had a great time talking about why these films move us. With that said, what did you think of of our final list?
