We open the show by continuing our superhero State of the Union conversation we had last week discussing the current state of the genre and where it might be headed in the near future. Given Supergirl‘s initial box office returns, it only adds more fuel to the fire regarding our concerns and how this might be a significant turning point in our culture.

We then shift our attention over to A24, who was under fire over the last week for their new AI partnership with Google. It got to a point where A24 was forced to release a report “explaining” to audiences what this new partnership is all about. The problem is that the report is nothing but vague word salad and doesn’t explain anything. Before getting to the Top 5, JD gives us his thoughts on John Carney’s new film Power Ballad, starring Paul Rudd.

Inspired by Supergirl, we thought it would be fun to talk about all of the great female characters we’ve seen in come book movies over the years. While there aren’t as many female-led movies in the genre (sadly), there are a plethora of great characters to choose from for this list. We had the best time diving into this one and talking about why these characters are so iconic. With that said, what did you think of of our lists?
