List: Top 3 Child Adventure Movies
This week on Episode 310 of the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by Joe Cornish’s The Kid Who Would Be King, we discussed our favorite child adventure movies. Child adventures have been the cornerstone for “kids movies” since the beginning of film, especially in the realm of animation, so this was a rich category to tackle this week. In fact, it’s so expansive that we had to get specific with our criteria to narrow down the kinds of films we wanted to focus on for our lists. There was a lot to figure out, but hopefully the films we chose will make you all proud. That said, here are our lists:
(Note: Please keep in mind that we each had different criteria for our selections)
1) How to Train Your Dragon 1 / 2
2) Mary Poppins
3) Moonrise Kingdom
2) Pan’s Labyrinth
3) Lord of the Flies
Honorable Mentions (Combined)
Kubo & the Two Strings, Harry Potter, E.T., A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Stand By Me, Where the Wild Things Are, Ivan’s Childhood, The 400 Blows, Grave of the Fireflies, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, The Wizard of Oz, The Goonies, Treasure Island, Cloak & Dagger, Flight of the Navigator, The Iron Giant, Song of the Sea, Secret of Kells Spirited Away, Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, My Neighbor Totoro, Super 8, Hugo, A Monster Calls, Pete’s Dragon, The Never Ending Story, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Florida Project, Home Alone, Attack the Block, In Search of the Castaways, Walk About, Jumangi, Narnia: Lion Witch and the Wardrope, Baby’s Day Out, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Spy Kids
