Podcast: The Last Black Man in San Francisco / Fast Color – Extra Film
This week on the InSession Film Podcast: Extra Film segment, Ryan and Jay get together to review the newest indie drama, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, and in the back half of the episode, they review the newest indie sic-fi drama, Fast Color.
Considered one of the more intriguing films to come out of Sundance, director Joe Talbot’s film follows the story of two friends living in a ever changing city they grew up in. With comparisons to the films of Barry Jenkins, Sorry to Bother You and Blindspotting, this was a very anticipated film for the guys to see and they couldn’t wait to talk about it once their screenings ended.
Then, the guys take a look at the film Fast Color, a film that they missed earlier in the year and is now available for Streaming and Video-On-Demand. The film is a interesting story family drama with sic-fi/superhero elements that has been real surprise for most people that have seen it already. Also with some comparisons to Jeff Nichol’s Midnight Special, and knowing how much JD Duran loves that movie, it was a no brainier to review this movie and see if the film lived up to the hype.
On that note, have fun with this week’s Extra Film segment and let us know what you think in the comment section below. Thanks for listening!
