Our yearly retrospectives are always a lot of fun, but our 1999 Retrospective last week will be one for the books. For the most part, everything went seamlessly, however when we got to our #1 films of 1999, things kind of went off the rails in the funniest way possible. So we had to talk about how it happened and why it’s a moment we’ll never forget.
– Hamnet Wins TIFF (20:53)
This year’s Toronto International Film Festival just wrapped up with Chloé Zhao becoming the first filmmaker to win the People’s Choice Award twice as her latest film Hamnet took home the top prize. We wanted to talk about the electrifying buzz for the film coming out of TIFF and how it impacts our excitement for the film as we head into the fall season.
– 2025 Fall Preview (45:13)
We structured our fall preview a little different this year. Instead of doing a conventional number ranking, or just a general conversation, we decided to do a tier ranking system. We grouped films by our most excited at the top, the movies we’re still quite excited for (even if not as much as Tier 1) in the middle, and those we’re curious about at the bottom. This allowed for us to categorize these movies while including a ton of titles that we might not have been able to otherwise. What are your most anticipated movies of the fall season?
