– 1999 Retrospective (8:45)
After some opening banter and doing some housekeeping, we finally began our 1999 Retrospective. As always, we talked about the year as a whole and the movies that shaped its narrative, which in this case is the legacy of it maybe being the best year for cinema ever. Does the year deserve that kind of reputation? Well, we talk about it why some may feel that why, but also why it’s understandable if it others don’t. Either way, there’s no denying the prowess of those movies at the top.

– Top 10 Movies of 1999 (48:09)
Between The Matrix, Magnolia, The Sixth Sense, Eyes Wide Shut, The Straight Story, Election, Being John Malkovich, among many others, it’s easy to see why 1999 has the reputation it does. 1999 certainly has some all-timers on its hands and we had a great time delving into the very best of what the year had to offer at the cinema. 1999 also became an important lesson to us in terms of communicating given that release dates can get tricky when they have small premiers, but then get larger releases in another year. When we get to our #1 picks, it is arguably the funniest thing that’s ever happened on the show. But it was all worth it in the end. At any rate, what are your Top 10 Movies of 1999?
