Podcast: Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown / Benedetta – Extra Film
This week on Extra Film, Ryan and Jay begin their Pedro Almodóvar Movie Series with Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and then they discuss Benedetta!
After wrapping up Sergio Leone’s filmography last week, the boys are back to talk about their first entry in their final film series of the year, Pedro Almodóvar. With Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Almodóvar tackles the complexities of what a woman is going through when they are vulnerable and looking for the love they deserve. In a hilarious romp, Almodóvar is able to make you feel all the emotions of these characters while laughing at their manic situations. It’s a gem.
In the back half of the episode, the boys dive into Benedetta, the latest film from director Paul Verhoeven. Building off the acclaims from the festival season, Benedetta lives up to its absurdist promises and offers one of the funniest movies of the year. Listen to the conversation by Ryan and Jay to hear their positive reactions to the movie.
