This week on the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by Wild Horse Nine coming to theaters, we do a John Malkovich movie draft! We also discuss the heartbreaking deaths of Patrick Stewart and Eric Bauza, and talk about the awards chances for Wildwood and You Can See Everything.
– Patrick Stewart / Eric Bauza (2:27)
We begin the show this week on a dour note as we discuss the unfortunate passing’s of Patrick Stewart and Eric Bauza. It’s been hard to find the words for both (for different reasons). Stewart was a legend whose career helped define the sci-fi genre in film/TV while being an icon on the stage. Bauza may not have been a household name, but he was a generational talent who we lost way too soon.
– Wildwood / You Can See Everything (16:28)
This next segment is a passionate talking point for us. We need to stop treating animation and documentaries as lesser art forms. Wildwood and You Can See Everything are both elite films for their respective mediums and deserve to be considered alongside the usual dramas we see in the awards conversation. They are among tthe best directed films of the year. Period.
– John Malkovich Draft (56:28)
John Malkovich is such a fascinating actor with a specific presence on screen that makes him one one of the most distinctive in Hollywood. He can be very funny, a great antagonist, and times pull you in emotionally. He has a great range and we always love seeing him on screen. He has quite an eclectic filmography as well, which made for a really fun draft discussion. With that said, what did you think of our draft?
