This week on the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by the release of Disclosure Day, we do a Steven Spielberg movie draft as we discuss his best movies! Also, with Sunrise on the Reaping coming out later this year, we have a small Hunger Games retrospective after JD caught up with the books and we discuss the great Clint Eastwood after he retired at the age of 96.
– Hunger Games Retrospective (5:30)
This might seem a bit random, but as noted above, JD finally caught up with the the books and we wanted to discuss the them in relation to the movies. The Hunger Games not only hold up extremely well, but in the world we live in today they hit even harder. It’s also an incredible example of why we have an Oscar for Best Casting now because there are some inspired picks among the cast.
– Clint Eastwood (55:39)
At the ripe age of 96, Clint Eastwood has officially retired from making movies. An absolute legend in cinema and we wanted to take a few minutes to discuss his legacy. Opinions vary on him from movie to movie, but that’s exactly what makes him so captivating. Outside of Unforgiven and Letters from Iwo Jima, it feels like every other film in his filmography will swing back and forth depending on who you ask. JD is especially a big fan.
– Steven Spielberg Draft (1:08:45)
We’ve talked a bunch over the years about Steven Spielberg, including our dedicated movies series a few years ago, so we thought it would be fun to do a draft this time around. As usual, we went ten rounds in this draft, talking about Spielberg’s best films and what makes his legacy so unique. We had a ton of fun with this one. Who do you think won this draft between JD and Megan?
