After some opening banter, we begin the show this week with one of the most random, but admittedly really fun, conversations we’ve had on the show in some time. There was one track that JD heard last week on Stingray Movie Music that sent him down a rabbit hole and it led to an unexpected epiphany about a movie most of us have forgotten.

While we’ve had the “Hollywood is bleak” conversation several times on the show before, it felt necessary to bring it back after Disney revealed its teaser trailer for next year’s live-action Moana, a film that not only looks like another shot-for-shot remake, but even worse looks like it was made by an AI slop machine. If this is the future of Hollywood, it’s going to get real bad real soon.

As noted above, with Wicked: For Good hitting theaters this weekend, we thought it would be fun to talk about our favorite musical duets in film as the duets in Wicked are undeniable. Admittedly, however, this was a challenging topic to decipher. Obviously there are some extraordinary duets in film, but it’s not as dense of a subject as we normally consider. Regardless, we still had a lot of fun with this conversation and we hope you enjoy it as well. With that said, what would be your Top 5 musical duets in film?
