– Opening Banter / Star Wars & Steven Soderbergh UPDATE (10:50)
After some opening banter, we begin the show this week by once again talking about the unmade Steven Soderbergh Star Wars movie because it turns out it’s much worse than we thought. In a recent report, not only was the film greenlit, it was in production and had a fully purchased treatment. We were so, so close to actually having the film realized. It wasn’t just a pitch that sounded cool.

We then close out the first half of the show by talking about the amazing news that Spike Jonze is working with Charlie Kaufman on a new film. It’s the news we’ve been waiting for! We also talk about Netflix giving David Fincher’s new Cliff Booth film a “robust” theatrical rollout next year, paving the way for perhaps a new era with Netflix. And finally, James wanted to give some thoughts on this year’s Best Supporting Actor race.
– Top 5 Movies for Halloween (38:09)
To be clear, we are not talking about “Halloween movies” per se, or even movies “about Halloween,” as much as the movies that invoke the spirit of Halloween for us personally. These are the movies we vibe with the most for the holiday. When you bring spooky season, what are go-to films that make you want to get out the orange lights, your favorite costume and jack-o-lanterns. That’s what we were mostly going for with this list. With that said, what would be your top 5 movies for Halloween?
