This week on Episode 699 of the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by JD’s birthday coming this weekend, we discussed our Top 5 movies of 1985 (his birth year)! It was kind of a weird year, but the films at the top have become iconic and massively influential over the years. It also features some vastly underrated movies that we also talk about in our honorable mentions. It might not be the best year of the 1980s, however it’s arguably the most fascinating to discuss regarding its legacy. That said, here are our lists:
(Note: Please keep in mind that we each had different criteria for our selections)
JD
1) The Breakfast Club
2) Come and See
3) To Live and Die in L.A.
4) Back to the Future
5) After Hours
Megan
1) Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
2) Back to the Future
3) The Breakfast Club
4) Blood Simple
5) The Hills Have Eyes Part II
Honorable Mentions (Combined)

Hopefully you guys enjoyed our lists. If you agree or disagree with us, let us know in the comment section below. There are obviously many more great films from 1985 that we didn’t have time to mention (or they’re blindspots for us), so if your list looks very different than ours, we totally get it. That being said, what would be your Top 5? Leave a comment in the comment section or email us at [email protected].
