Poll: What is your favorite film to receive a standing ovation at Cannes?

The attendees of the Cannes Film Festival are notorious for letting the world know when they enjoy something, and even more notorious for communicating their hatred for something else. It’s not uncommon for a film to be met with either an onslaught of boos, or even a lengthy standing ovation. As awkward as a standing ovation can be in the moment (consider Adam Driver taking the time to smoke a cigarette during the five minute applause for Annette), it proves two things: 1) The film will be talked about, and 2) The audience at Cannes is not afraid to express themselves. But they do have a habit of cheering films that would go on to receive considerable acclaim, and while the length of applause has historically ranged from 5 minutes (Inside Llewyn Davis) to as high as 22 minutes (Pan’s Labyrinth), it makes for a fun exercise to look at which films held up the most for us.

With that said, what is your favorite film to receive a standing ovation at Cannes? We realize we may be forgetting some, as not all standing ovations were documented at the time of their film’s premiere.
