Podcast: Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! / Drive My Car – Extra Film
This week on Extra Film, Ryan and Jay continue their Pedro Almodóvar Movie Series with Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! and then they discuss Drive My Car!
The boys are back to talk about their next Almodóvar with Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, a controversial dark comedy about a man kidnapping a woman and grooming her to fall in love with him. Provocative doesn’t begin to describe a movie that is better to talk about than what might be on screen, given the questionable subject matter. But it is fascinating and the boys had a good discussion.
In the back half of the episode, the boys dive into Drive My Car, the latest film from director Ryusuke Hamaguchi. At nearly three hours long, Ryusuke Hamaguchi takes us on a journey of grief and acceptance through the use of art. It’s one of the best films of the year, and both Ryan and Jay really responded to how this moving film worked for them
