On this week’s Extra Film, Ryan and Jay continue their Wachowski Sisters Movie Series with The Matrix Reloaded, and they also the indie drama, Our Friend.
Following up one of the most influential films of all time is not easy, but the Wachowski Sisters dared to do it in 2003 with The Matrix Reloaded. Building off the mythology of the first film, we find our heroes trying to prevent a war in and out of the matrix. With amazing action sequences, and deeply detailed plot dialogue, The Matrix Reloaded has aged better than people give it credit for and Ryan and Jay mostly love it.
In the back half of the episode, the boys take a look at the first new release of their 2021 campaign. Our Friend is a cancer drama with three strong lead performances that make it a very memorable experience. While Jay thought the movie was good, it was Ryan who liked it a lot more, hitting him more emotionally than other movies that come out normally in January.
