We begin the show this week by previewing our 1998 Retrospective happening next week on the show. It’s one of our favorite episodes that we do each year. We’ve seen a lot of films in prep for it and we’re ready to dive into what makes 1998 such a unique year for film.
– Summer Box Office Record / You Can See Everything (13:59)
Next, we briefly talk about how summer 2026 broke box office records and how exciting that is given how bleak things looked just a few years ago. After that we wanted to note that A24 revealed a secret new film at Telleride after we did our Fall Preview last week on the show. It turns out, You Can See Everything is 100% one of our most anticipated movies for the rest of the year.

As noted above, with Hope coming to theaters this weekend, we wanted to look at our favorite monster movies. Depending on your criteria and definitions, this is a topic that can go in many directions. Something we somewhat test the limits of given our restrictions and what we considered for this list. Either way, there are tons of great monsters movies and this was a really fun topic. With that said, what did you think of our lists?

We end the show this week with JD telling an insane story of taking his son to Michigan over the weekend. It was an experience with high high’s and low low’s, and something they won’t soon forget.
