This week on the InSession Film Podcast, we discuss everything that Marvel unveiled at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, including a new Ghost Rider movie and a new Black Panther! We also do a consensus ranking of Marvel’s Phase 4 & 5.
– Marvel Comic-Con (5:24)
Marvel has been making big splashes at San Diego Comic-Con for years now, often with big presentations and maps to the next phase of the MCU. However, this year they went smaller, keeping things close to the vest. Of course, they did unveil some pretty big things with the announcement of Black Panther 3 and a new Black Panther in David Jonsson. We also learned about Ghost Rider coming to the MCU with Ryan Gosling attached to star. And, finally, a hype-fest for Avengers: Doomsday, which didn’t really give us all that much.

Aside from Marvel, we also wanted to give some very brief thoughts on the trailer for Lanterns, a new look at Clayface, teasers for Carrie and Blade Runner 2099, and whatever the hell is Ebeneezer. Is it a fake movie? Sure looks like it, but you be the judge.
– Phase 4 & 5 Ranking (57:51)
We’ve discussed Marvel and the MCU quite a bit on the show, updating our rankings last year on Episode 635, so we wanted to do something a little different this time around. We specifically focused on just Phases 4 and 5 (everyone’s favorites) as we turn the page to Doomsday and Secret Wars. It’s no secret that Marvel has been quite polarized since Endgame game out pre-COVID, and have been working overtime to catch up ever since. So, this made for an interesting exercise that perhaps involves a few hot takes here and there. It also meant that we had to really do some debating to figure out a few spots.
