This week on the InSession Film Podcast, with the Cannes Film Festival kicking off this week, we discussed our Top 5 Palme d’Or Winners! However, because we did this list nearly a decade ago (on Episode 223), we decided to focus just on the prize winners of the 21st century this time around. We also talk a little box office given the really fun dominance of The Devil Wears Prada 2.

We open the show this week, after some random discussion at the top, with JD telling the story of traveling to Chicago to see Spike Jonze’s Her in the middle of winter. His wife is from south Florida, so it was quite the memorable trip as a result. We then had to talk about the box office for The Devil Wears Prada 2, a film that has now outgrossed most superhero films from the last year or so.

The Palme d’Or prize list is full of some all-time great movies when you go back through the decades. However, since we’ve done this before, we wanted to narrow down the criteria a little bit, so this time we only talked about the winners from the 21st century. Which has featured some phenomenal movies that will absolutely go down as all-timers themselves. All of that to say, yeah, we had the best time with this list.
