This week on the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by Star Wars Day and other notable films coming out soon, we thought we’d discuss some of our favorite movie quotes in film! We’ve oddly never done this top 5 before, and boy did we have a great time with it (even included #JDTears). We also discuss the box office for The Devil Wears Prada 2, Netflix going to theaters in a big way and the new changes from The Academy.
– Star Wars Rant / The Devil Wears Prada 2 (0:35)
We open the show this week, as we recorded on Star Wars Day (May the 4th Be With You), with a little rant about a rumor going around that Disney is going to retcon the sequel trilogy. Yeah, that’s not going to happen. We then turn our attention to the box office for The Devil Wears Prada 2, which went gangbusters over the weekend with a haul north of $200 million worldwide.
– Netflix & Narnia / The Academy Changes (15:11)
Netflix announced over the weekend that Greta Gerwig’s new Narnia movie will be moved to February of 2027, but in this case it’s for a great reason. For the first time ever, Netflix is distributing the movie to theaters worldwide, including IMAX and said the film will be in theaters for 54 days before going to Netflix. After discussing that incredible news, we talk about the changes that were made by The Academy regarding some of their rules, and it was very promising to hear.
– Summer Preview (27:40)
This summer looks to be really fun. Some of its spectacle might leave something to be desired, depending on what shakes out with Spider-Man, Supergirl and Masters of the Universe, but we have little doubt in filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg. Where things look most promising is on the auteur front with the likes of The Death of Robin Hood, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Her Private Hell, I Want Your Sex, Backrooms and more.
– Top 5 Movie Quotes (52:10)
This is another incredibly dense topic (that we will for sure do again in the future) with hundreds of iconic movie quotes to choose from for our lists. Where does one even begin to narrow it down? Well, we do have some specific criteria to start, before we decided to thin the margins further with our personal feelings on what we wanted to discuss. All in all, not only did we find some powerful movie quotes, but one of them even led to some #JDTears once again. Just another day at the office.
