This week on the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by Mother Mary coming to the theaters this weekend and the fact that it is *her* year (with five films coming out in 2026), we thought it would be fun to do a Top 10 consensus ranking of Anne Hathaway performances! We also discuss this year’s CinemaCon and JD gives his thoughts on the horror film Undertone.

We open the show this week by talking about Ian Tuason’s Undertone after JD finally caught up with the film. In our podcast review, Brendan and Megan talk about the film’s themes and its anti-abortion commentary. We talk about that further and some of the various nuances that make you wonder what the film’s intent was and how execution might have muddied the waters.

This year’s CinemaCon took place over the last week or so, and there were some fascinating things to come out of the event. Sony CEO Tom Rothman had some interesting comments about advertising before movies. Paramount reiterated 30 movies a year after the merger. Is Netflix putting more movies in theaters? Warner Bros. launched a new label. And instead of talking the “L” and moving the release date, Disney launched a fake IMAX format for Avengers: Doomsday. We saw trailers and glimpses of many movies we’re looking forward to this year.
– Anne Hathaway Ranking (1:03:48)
2026 will unequivocally be the year of Anne Hathaway. She has five movies coming out this year, including Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, The End of Oak Street, The Odyssey and Verity. So, with that in mind, we thought it would be fun to discuss her best performances and do another consensus ranking. She’s incredible in everything she does, but we found a ten that quintessentially define her career to this point. Or, at least, we think so.
