After some opening banter, we begin the show this week by briefly discussing the box office for Sam Raimi’s new film Send Help, which is off to a hot start. There is still some work to do, but it appears to be the first major success story for 2026 with an original horror film making waves. We then shift our attention to comedic legend Catherine O’Hara and her unfortunate passing last week. She was simply one of the very best and this one stung heavily.

In what might JD’s favorite segment in a long time, he takes a victory lap on the recent virality of Hans Zimmer’s score for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Specifically, the “love theme” from that film, a cue we have raved about several times here on the show. It’s a piece of music that has become trendy on TikTok and Twitter, and boy do we have fun taking credit for it. Also, we might be getting Terrence Malick’s new film The Way of the Wind this year. A recent interview suggests it could premier at Cannes, so fingers crossed.

With Send Help now in theaters, it was the perfect time to talk about one of our favorite directors working today in Sam Raimi. His Spider-Man trilogy is untouched and what he did with the Evil Dead films was incredibly inventive. Not to mention his other great films in-between those trilogies. This one was only five rounds, but we talk about some really great movies and had the best time doing so. That said, who do you think won this draft between JD and Brendan?
