– Remembering Rob Reiner (2:07)
We begin the show this week by talking about the late-great Rob Reiner and his incredible career behind-the-camera and his memorable performances on-screen. His early career as a filmmaking is nothing short of astounding. His output from the early 80s through the early 90s is simply an hall-of-fame run. Some all-time classics in that crop of films. What happened to Reiner is absolutely tragic and heartbreaking, but we wanted to celebrate his remarkable legacy.
– Clooney Draft Results / Stingray / Oscar Shortlists (20:11)
After a hard right turn, we then give the results of our George Clooney draft, and it was quite funny how it turned out. JD provides us with another Stingray Movie Music update, and it’s one of the most passionate turn of events that we’ve seen yet. And finally we dig into the Oscar shortlists and talk about some of the most baffling titles/names to be considered. There’s a lot to love in some categories, but we especially talk about how uneven the music categories are this year.
– Warner Bros/Netflix (1:15:15)
We’ve waited awhile to dive into this topic, but now that it seems like Netflix has won the bid, we decided now is a great time to talk about the Hollywood Devil (it’s Episode 666 after all). No matter how you spin, or whoever won the bid, this is a bad thing for movies. Netflix says they’re going to keep Warner Bros separated and still put their movies in theaters. We’ll see if they hold to their word, but it’s easy to be dubious.
