List: Top 3 “Old Man with a Gun” Movies

This week on Episode 243 of the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by The Foreigner with Jackie Chan, we decided to talk about our favorite “old man with a gun” movies. There’s a lot of irony with that particular topic, because as you’ll hear on the show, Chan’s character doesn’t really use a gun as he seeks his revenge despite our anticipation for that based off the film’s marketing. But we still thought it’d be fun to dive into this unique genre where we see older characters refusing to retire their guns as they go after the bad guys. On that note, what movies would make your list?

Here are the one’s that made ours:

**Please keep in mind that we each had different criteria for our selections**

1) Once Upon a Time in the West
2) The Long Kiss Goodnight
3) Oldboy

1) Falling Down
2) The Brave One
3) Oldboy

1) Sin City
2) Man on Fire
3) Rambo

Honorable Mentions (Combined)

Léon: the Professional, The Naked Gun, Taken, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Unforgiven, True Grit, No Country for Old Men, Heat, Lethal Weapon, The Equalizer, Edge of Darkness, Men in Black, Aliens, Walk Among the Tombstones, Dirty Harry, Harry Brown, Get Carter, Death Wish

Hopefully you guys enjoyed our lists and if you agree or disagree with us, let us know in the comment section below. There are many other movies we didn’t mention when it comes to this particular topic and we would love to hear where you stand on this subject. That being said, what would be your Top 3?
