This week on Episode 213 of the InSession Film Podcast, inspired by Disney’s latest live-action remake in Beauty and the Beast, we talked about the animated films that we would like to see in the live-action format. Understandably, this topic isn’t going to be for everyone. The fact that Hollywood keeps regurgitating the same films over and over again in various remakes is tiresome for some audiences. Disney’s live-action remakes is just one sliver of that, and we sympathize if you don’t care. However, we do think there are some animated films that do lend themselves to live-action should Hollywood want to go that route. The films on our list, we would argue, are great candidates for the live-action treatment and we talk about why that’s a good thing.
On that note, which movies would make your list? Here are the one’s that made ours:
*Keep in mind we have different criteria for our lists as well*
1) The Iron Giant
2) How to Train Your Dragon
3) The Wind Rises
1) The Good Dinosaur
2) Fox and the Hound
3) Treasure Planet
Honorable Mentions (Combined)
The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, The Incredibles, Brave, Star Wars: Clone Wars, Gargoyles, Curious George, Shrek, Anastasia, Titan A.E., Howl’s Moving Castle, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, An American Tale, The Secret of NIMH
Hopefully you guys enjoyed our lists and if you agree or disagree with us, let us know in the comment section below. As mentioned on the show, we didn’t limit this to Disney or any specific studio. With that in mind, there are countless other films that could make your list depending on your own criteria. That being said, what would be your Top 3?
