– Opening Banter / Robert Redford (0:31)
We open the show by talking a little Paul Thomas Anderson and why his films are impossible to rank, despite our attempts to do so on Letterboxd. After setting the table, so to speak, for this week’s show, we talk about the late-great Robert Redford and the massive impact he had on the film community. His passing last week was devastating to hear, but there is lots to celebrate and we did our best to honor him.

– John Boyega Comments / Mandalorian & Grogu Trailer (16:36)
We love John Boyega, but we felt compared to push back against his recent Star Wars comments about the Sequel Trilogy. The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi are both good films that wonderfully subvert the Star Wars formula. If he was to have his out, maybe the larger audience would have been happy, however it would have left us disappointed. Regardless of how we feel about the films, though, his bitterness is very understandable. And since it just came out, it made sense to also talk about the new trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu, which doesn’t look good at all.

– Top 5 Paul Thomas Anderson Scenes (51:18)
Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the great filmmakers working today, and as noted above, we have found ranking his films damn near impossible. So we thought it would perhaps be more attainable to talk about the best scenes in his films. An exercise that, as you could imagine, proved to be extremely challenging in its own right. There are so many great moments to choose from, but once we narrowed our lists down, we had the best time talking about why PTA’s films and scenes resonate so deeply. What are your favorite PTA scenes?
