Movie Trailer: 12 Years a Slave is Oscar-worthy

Ring, ring! We have an Oscar contender, folks!

We recently got the first trailer for Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave, a true story based on Solomon Northrup, a free man who was captured and sold into slaver – and it has Academy Awards written all over it.

The director, Hunger and Shame‘s McQueen, and cast are excellent. Highlighting the performances are Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays Northrup and looks to do some amazing work, and Michael Fassbender (one of the best actors working today), who plays an evil slave owner. But that’s just the beginning, as Brad Pitt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano, Alfre Woodard and Sarah Paulson are also starring.

12 Years a Slave is now one of my most anticipated films for the rest of the year, and I can’t wait to see it.

12 Years a Slave hits theaters on October 18.
