Podcast: Top 3 Movies That Affected Us Most In Real Life

This week on the InSession Film Podcast, going off of our discussion of Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter, we decided to talk about the films that had a lingering effect on us in real life too. Sometimes art and real life aren’t too distinct from one another and art can have a lasting impact, in a good way. And it’s those kinds of films, we discuss for our Top 3 this week, which was real, authentic and very personal.

That being said, what absurd actions scenes would make your list? Here are the one’s that made ours (Keep in mind we all have different criteria for our lists as well):

JD

1) Warrior
2) Pulp Fiction
3) The Passion of the Christ

Brendan

1) The Departed
2) School of Rock
3) Mission to Mars

Honorable Mentions (Combined)

Shawshank Redemption, It, The Lion King, Locke, Transformers, Toy Soldiers, Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone

Hopefully you guys enjoyed our lists and if you agree or disagree with us, let us know in the comment section below. This is of course a very personal list, so it’s going to vary from person to person on what’s influenced you the most in real life. That being said, what would be your Top 3? 1. Dude Warrior is ABSO-F******-LUTLEY my #1 as well, and your first experience of it is almost exactly like mine… I blew off the trailer, didn’t give it a second thought, saw it with my wife at the $1 theater on a date night, and when Tommy taps at the crescendo of About Today… I could not see out of my saline soaked eyes and was doing that crying that little kids do when they have to hyperventilate to get enough oxygen. When the credits began to roll and the lights turned on I was paralyzed in my seat, my wife started to get up and I told her I needed a minute. I had never in my life seen a picture of a beautiful surrender painted like that. I texted my brother that night and said “you MUST see this movie that I just walked out of”. This movie hits so close to home on a number of different levels for me, It completely destroyed me, GOOD PICK!

    • Yeah man, it’s a gamechanger for sure. I still struggle to just listen to the damn song without losing it, such a perfect ending to that movie. Thanks again for the feedback good sir!!
